$89 Preliminary Invention Analysis

What we do

We conduct a preliminary invention analysis performed by trained patent professionals according to proprietary criteria.  Our system was developed by patent experts with years of industry experience to provide an objective and unbiased look at your invention. 

We deliver a Preliminary Invention Analysis Report summarizing our analysis and including a Recommended Action for you to take.  We will respond within 5 business days - and usually within 24 hours!

The Recommended Action may fall in one of four broad categories:
  • Professional Consultation - Your idea seems profitable and novel.  You are capable of filling a niche in the market with a product that is superior in at least one aspect.  You should invest in an immediate consultation with a patent attorney to discuss patent strategies for building an intellectual property portfolio.
  • Market Exploration - Your idea has merit and seems novel.  You should fully explore the technology space by conducting a full patentability search.
  • Idea Refinement - Your idea has merit and market conditions are more favorable than below.  However, in its current form, your idea is not sufficiently differentiated from prior art (publicly known technology) to move forward.  You should return to the drawing board and improve the invention, focusing on adding novel features.*
  • New Idea - Your idea and numerous variations of it are well known in the prior art.  The marketplace is crowded and/or prevailing business conditions such as barriers to entry benefit existing companies already operating in the related industry and discourage profitable licensing or manufacturing opportunities stemming from your idea.  You should focus your energies on a new idea.

Note:  If your invention meets the criteria for a professional consultation, we will refer you to our affiliated patent counsel.  You may choose to use their services, to conduct your own search for an attorney, or to forgo using an attorney altogether.

*  Analysis on improved or new inventions require additional fees.  After making any changes, simply submit the new invention for analysis using the same process.  Each submission will be charged the current one-time fee for analysis.
